Painting Grandparents

Following with my theme of friends and family this semester, I've been working on this painting of my grandpa and dead grandma.  This is just my progress so far, but I'm not done with it yet.

Also, here's a picture of Bean trying to jump out the window.

Print from the past

I'm getting antsy in school now that the weather's getting nicer. There's so much I want to DO! So much I'll finally have time for once I graduate.  I'm both excited and nervous about getting a new job, of course.  I just hope I can find one that I love as much as where I'm at now.  I'll miss the Workspace. ...and then where will I LIVE? I need to make sure I have a roommate for next year.

I did this print in Fall 2009.  I feel like I'm getting a little better at woodcuts, but I still love this.
I titled this monoprint "Orange Juice"

Valentine's Day, couple print "November"

I've been sneezing all day, which either means the snow is melting and I'm allergic to what was underneath OR I'm allergic to Valentine's day.  ...or a cold.  Luckily, Matt and I already celebrated yesterday by going ice skating and record shopping.  I fell on the ice and bruised my knee, how romantic!

I did this print titled "November" of Matt and I when I went to Frogman's Print & Paper Workshop this summer.  I stayed there for a week and did nothing but print and party.  It was the greatest time ever, I feel like I got some great work out of it.  I'd recommend every printmaker go at least once.  I'd love to go again when I can afford it.

1st print this semester and a betta fish

My theme for work this semester in both painting and printmaking is friends & family, and I feel like this is my one of my favorite prints that I've done so far.  There's a ton of things I could have done better and there's most definitely room for improvement, but I love the colors and I'm mostly happy with the way it turned out.  I did three prints on fabric and embroidered one of them, which I haven't photographed yet.
I have an edition of 5 prints and some artist proofs, most of which I'll be selling on Etsy as soon as I set everything up.
Here's a bunch of photos of my printing process and one of the betta fish I got for Matt as a Valentine's day gift.  He named it Mani, which is supposedly Thai for "gem."

oh hey

My "studio" a.k.a. bedroom mess.  I've been painting while sitting on the floor, but I at least have a plan to build an easel this summer. Maybe then I can get things a little more off the ground for a change.
